Nuclear profile dependence of elliptic flow from a parton cascade
نویسنده
چکیده
The transverse profile dependence of elliptic flow is studied in a parton cascade model. We demonstrate that the impact parameter dependence of elliptic flow depends sensitively on the transverse profile of initial particles, however, if elliptic flow is plotted as a function of the relative multiplicity, the nuclear profile dependence disappears. The insensitivity was found previously in a hydrodynamical calculation. Our calculations indicate that the insensitivity is also valid with additional viscous corrections. In addition, the minimum bias differential elliptic flow is demonstrated to be insensitive to the nuclear profile of the system.

Elliptic Flow from an On-shell Parton Cascade
Differential elliptic flow out to p⊥ ∼ 5 GeV/c is calculated using the MPC elastic parton cascade model for Au+Au at Ecm ∼ 130 A GeV. The results are compared to recent STAR/RHIC elliptic flow data. An elliptic flow pattern comparable to the data seems to require initial parton densities at least twice higher than the predicted by the HIJING model. Elliptic flow is also shown to be sensitive to...
متن کاملRecent results from parton cascade/microscopic transport
Parton cascade is a microscopic transport approach for the study of the space-time evolution of the Quark-Gluon Plasma produced in relativistic heavy ion collisions and its experimental manifestations. In the following, parton cascade calculations on elliptic flow and thermalization will be discussed. Dynamical evolution is shown to be important for the production of elliptic flow including the...
متن کاملQCD plasma equilibration , elliptic flow and jet - quenching – phenomena of common origin
Fast thermalization, a subsequent strong buildup of elliptic flow of QCD matter and jet-quenching as found at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) are understood as the consequence of perturbative QCD (pQCD) interactions within the 3+1 dimensional parton cascade BAMPS. The main contributions stem from pQCD inspired bremsstrahlung. Comparisons to Au+Au data of the flow parameter v2 as a fu...
متن کاملElliptic Flow at Finite Shear Viscosity in a Kinetic Approach at RHIC
Within a covariant parton cascade, we discuss the impact of both finite shear viscosity η and freeze-out dynamics on the elliptic flow generated at RHIC. We find that the enhancement of η/s in the cross-over region of the QGP phase transition cannot be neglected in order to extract the information from the QGP phase. We also point out that the elliptic flow v2(pT ) for a fluid at η/s ∼ 0.1− 0.2...
متن کاملElliptic flow and nuclear modification factor in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions within a partonic transport model.
The quark gluon plasma produced in ultrarelativistic heavy-ion collisions exhibits remarkable features. It behaves like a nearly perfect liquid with a small shear viscosity to entropy density ratio and leads to the quenching of highly energetic particles. We show that both effects can be understood for the first time within one common framework. Employing the parton cascade Boltzmann approach t...
